Terms of Service

The simple agreement between you and us for using SuperPinyin.

The short version: Use SuperPinyin to read and study Mandarin, enjoy it responsibly, and know that translations and dictionary entries are helpful aids rather than professional certifications. PRO is optional; subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in Google Play.

1. Agreeing to these terms

SuperPinyin is provided by Weila (registered name: Kartini) — “we,” “us,” or “our.” By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. Using the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use SuperPinyin on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. Please don't copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or tamper with the app, or use it to break the law or interfere with others.

3. PRO subscriptions & purchases

SuperPinyin is free to use, with an optional PRO upgrade that removes usage limits. PRO is offered as:

a monthly subscription,
a yearly subscription (which may include a free trial for new subscribers), and
a one-time lifetime purchase.

All purchases are processed by Google Play, and the price shown at checkout applies. Prices may change over time; any change won't affect a subscription period you've already paid for.

4. Automatic renewal & cancelling

The monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, and your Google Play payment method is charged, unless you cancel beforehand. You can cancel any time from Google Play → Subscriptions; cancel at least 24 hours before a renewal date to avoid the next charge. Cancelling stops future renewals — you keep PRO until the end of the period you've already paid for. The lifetime purchase is a single payment and does not renew.

5. Free trials

If a plan includes a free trial, it converts into a paid subscription when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

6. Refunds

Because billing runs through Google Play, refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policies. If something's gone wrong, reach out to us as well — we'll do our best to help.

7. Translations & dictionary content

SuperPinyin's pinyin, dictionary entries, and translations are provided to help you read and learn. They're generated automatically and won't always be perfect, so please don't rely on them for legal, medical, official, or otherwise critical purposes. They're study aids, not certified translations.

8. Availability & changes

We're always improving SuperPinyin, so features may be added, changed, or removed over time, and the app may occasionally be unavailable. Online features (like translation) depend on third-party services and internet access, which we can't guarantee at all times.

9. As-is, and our liability

SuperPinyin is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Weila is not liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the mandatory consumer laws that apply to you.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Weila operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your own country.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make meaningful changes, we'll update this page and the date below. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.
